Five9 contact center services reported an outage between 4th and 5th January 2023 which lasted for approx. 2 hours. The issue started with customers receiving browser and/or username/password/ account locked errors. This outage impacted Five9 contact center’s status pages and phone services. Customers were unable to obtain the necessary support due to this outage.
Similar outage was witnessed in Aug 2022, with Five9’s contact center services. The downtime impacted Five9’s Microsoft Teams, CT cloud, conferencing, Cisco unified communication services in addition to contact center support.
End-users reported recent outages in the US West region, but the outage was reported across the regions as well. Areas reporting higher number of outages were Houston, Miami, Battle Ground in Washington, Chicago, and Toledo.

Though Five9 was able to move domains to their backup data center to mitigate the issue, end-users took to social media to express their dissatisfaction/concern with Five9 services. Some end-users also highlighted how service outage is common with Five9. Since five 9s is a metric that represents 99.999% accuracy or uptime in this case, some users also suggested the name change for Five9 to Four9.
