“Digital business platforms are the real game-changing technologies in 2022 and beyond”

“One of the main drivers will be that companies are compelled to find real solutions in the post-Covid-19 era to truly transform themselves into digital enterprises. At the same time, the Covid-19 pandemic puts companies still in a survival mode. Therefore, companies around the world are slightly reluctant to innovate.”
In our opinion, it is not individual technologies that are crucial or game-changing but rather the purposeful combination of multiple technologies. After all, what are the benefits of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation, or Intelligent Document Processing, to name a few buzzwords, if they are used in isolation from each other in the company? What is needed is a technology that combines these individual disciplines, thus creating real value. From this perspective, digital business platforms are the real game-changing technologies in 2022 and beyond.
The drivers & disruptors for the technology innovations
One of the main drivers will be that companies are compelled to find real solutions in the post-Covid-19 era to truly transform themselves into digital enterprises. At the same time, the Covid-19 pandemic puts companies still in a survival mode. Therefore, companies around the world are slightly reluctant to innovate.
The past two years show that companies have implemented innovative solutions but have mistakenly digitized and automated only selectively. RPA technologies are the best example of this. Although the execution of specific manual tasks could be massively optimized through robots, the anticipated hope for added value in the end-to-end view is significantly low.
Aggressive adoption of advanced technologies for staying relevant and competitive
Although technology adoption is becoming more aggressive in some ways, it remains essential for a company to maintain its focus. Therefore, we believe that an additional orchestration layer is needed to execute bold and rapid adaptation of technologies. Otherwise, we will fall into the same trap as the example mentioned above regarding the adoption of RPA technologies. No matter how disruptive, technology is of no use to a company when implemented in isolation because it also fosters an unwanted silo mentality. Companies will be the best in class if they can quickly adapt to new disruptive technologies and make them work together in an ideal way. This combination is only possible if a company consistently digitizes and orchestrates its business processes end-to-end. If one succeeds in this transformation, the path to an autonomous enterprise of the future is paved.
